She wasn't just the artist; she was the entrepreneur. Elizabeth drew, engraved, and hand-coloured 500 different plants, consulting with apothecaries at the Chelsea Physic Garden to ensure every detail was medically and botanically accurate. Her talent and tenacity didn't just save her family—they resulted in one of the most influential botanical works of the 18th century.
